Why a futures journal misses the statement

Fees, time zones, and the 5:00 PM Chicago session are the usual reasons a journal and a statement disagree.

Most futures journals show the price difference and stop. The broker statement also has commissions, exchange fees, and a trade date that is not midnight.

Tradovate’s Orders file has no commission column. If the journal adds nothing, the day looks better than the statement. Tiedbook applies a dated fee preset and then compares the result with the Performance file or the statement you import.

Timestamps without a zone are read as America/Chicago. The session rolls at 5:00 PM. A fill at 5:10 PM belongs to the next session, including Friday evening into Monday.

A partial fill that is on the statement and missing from the export shows up as an open gap, with the likely cause named. It is not hidden inside a monthly total.

The October sample book includes a day that does not tie, so you can see the gap before you upload your own file.
