Statement reconciliation

Each CME session is compared with the statement. When a day misses, the difference and a likely cause stay on the row.

  • Journal net, statement net, and the difference, in cents.
  • A day that matches is marked tied. An open gap stays open until you mark it known.
  • Partial fills, missing fees, and the 5:00 PM Chicago roll are called out in plain language.

How it works

A futures journal that stops at price difference will not match the broker statement. The statement also carries commissions, exchange fees, clearing fees, and a trade date that rolls in the evening, not at midnight. Reconciliation is the screen that puts those two numbers on the same row.

Tiedbook rebuilds each round trip from the fills in your file and stores money as integer cents, so a fee of a few cents cannot drift through floating point. A dated fee schedule fills in commissions when the export omitted them. Tradovate’s Orders file is the usual case: it has prices and quantities, and no commission column. The schedule is named on the account, and the preview shows what it added before you save.

The session rolls at 5:00 PM America/Chicago. A fill at 5:10 PM belongs to the next session, including Friday evening into Monday. If your statement uses that roll, Thursday night no longer lands on the wrong day. Timestamps without a zone are read as Chicago. The rule is printed on the calendar and on Settings, so you can see the assumption.

After the fills are in, import the statement or the performance file. Each session then shows journal net, statement net, and the difference. A day is tied only when those nets match to the cent. An open day stays open. It is not folded into a monthly total that looks fine.

When the numbers differ, the row names a likely cause: a missing fee, a statement that omitted fees, a partial fill that is on the statement and missing from the export, or a trade-date shift around the roll. You can add a statement total by hand if the platform will not export one. The cause stays on the row until the numbers match or you explain the gap.

The October sample book includes a session that does not tie, on purpose. Open it before you upload your own file so you can see an open item, the dollar difference, and the review link. The sample is labelled sample data. It is not a customer result and it is not a promise about your account.

Nothing in reconciliation places an order or talks to the prop firm. It cannot see a fill the firm has if you have not imported it. Use it to know which of your days match the statement you already downloaded. Use the firm’s dashboard for the official balance.

The table is one row per session. Tied days are marked. Open days show the difference and a link into the fills. On a phone the same rows become a list with the date, the journal net, the statement net, and the gap, so you do not pinch a desktop grid.

What you see

Export the book any time, including after you cancel. Delete the account in Settings. The statement match is a property of the file you keep, not a lock on the journal.

Questions

What does tied mean?

A session is tied when journal net equals the imported statement to the cent, after fees.

What if my platform has no statement export?

Enter the day’s net by hand on Reconcile. The row stays open until that number matches.

Does this log into the broker?

No. You export a file. The only optional sync is a read-only TopstepX key, and it cannot place an order.

Why is 5:00 PM the roll?

That is the CME equity-index session used by the product. Change the hour in Settings if your statement uses another roll.
